NAPS 2 B Fit – Health + Fitness Tip

Lesson from kitty.

This is how we pump iron on a hot and humid day.

First find the weights.

Then take them to a cool place like the cellar.

Third, get into position on the bench and enjoy the atmosphere.

Now think about using your muscles in proper form… or just chill for a while.

Think about how winter will be back soon enough.

Does that put things into perspective for you?

Lessons from our furry friends can be priceless.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

ACE Walking Fun Fact

Interval walkers lost six times more weight than walkers who maintained a steady pace, according to a Danish study.

Therefore, enjoy an interruption or two; because, that will automatically incorporate interval walking. This is the fact I keep in mind while stopping or slowing down to watch the fawns, smell the roses, let the dogs do their duty, catch up with a friendly neighbor or…uh oh… run from the bees, oh boy!

HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training which is a popular interval workout and safe when done properly.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

ACE Walking Fun Fact

The risk of exercise-related injuries is 1 to 5 percent for walkers compared to 20 to 70 percent for runners.

Knowing about the injury risk of running keeps me satisfied with the decision to walk rather than run. We all have our issues to deal with; but, why knowingly overdo something? I ask the doctor what track athletes do about lower body pain and get the response that the runner runs with pain.

Athletes do get hurt; they just do not tell you; because, their goal is to win at all costs. An athlete loves their job so much that they will do anything to work through the pain or other issue. Then again, how long is the athlete able to keep up their pace to continue winning?

For the rest of us who want healthy longevity for a lifetime of happiness, walking is a great exercise. Therefore, be happy with your walker, cane, walking partner, and get in the soothing outdoors to stay as mobile as possible.

Please remember that aging is for the strong; just like you.

Best of health to you and good-bye for now.

Exercise Pays Off…

literally.

Picking up a coin from the floor, or elsewhere, gives new meaning to “your exercise will pay off and reward you.” Many ideas can be read into this thought.

I just had to post this mental image; because, I have heard about studies that prove money is the greatest motivator for people to continue their exercise program. This is one of  the reasons people who join an on-going class and/or gym have better results; because, they want to keep their purchase, not throw it away.

So, if you want to be able to pick up your loose change and add more value to your day, keep up with your healthy lifestyle program.

Thank you and good-bye for now.

Ear bud in only one ear, please.

Please be safe and careful when you are using your devices. Always be aware of your surroundings by keeping both eyes open and at least one ear on. That means you should only use one ear piece so you can hear what is going on around you. Thank you. I feel better knowing that you are safe.

Best of health to you and good-bye for now.

ACE Walking Fun Fact

“Walking is good medicine: it can help you improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels.”

Wow, who knew that walking can be that powerful? Only everyone since the beginning of time.

Hippocrates, ~400 BC, knew that environment, activities of daily living and diet are the deciding factors of our health.

Plato, ~300 BC,  knew that God gave us education and exercise to work together for our best life possible.

Look at the ancient practices of China and India, which have been keeping their people healthy for 4000 to 5000 years.

This makes me love my walks that much more; how about you?

Best of health to you and good-bye for now.

Exercise is Medicine

Walking dogs is the best all around medicine

Who can argue that this is the best type of group exercise?

Just look at those loving eyes and faces. The best part of my day is when I get to walk the dogs and spend quality time with them and other pets, too. It brings me back to the days I worked in a dog kennel; one of the best jobs I ever had. Puppies and kittens forever.:-)

So you can imagine my excitement when a client has dogs; because, I will do whatever it takes to help the client achieve their results. I am able to show you some dog training tips right along with your personal training session. How cool is that? That way your dogs behave while you do your own session.

Truly, happy dogs and happy clients equals the best health possible. Think about it, doesn’t the unconditional love from your pet motivate you, put a smile on your face and in your heart? It does for me.

Now off to go play with a girl’s best friends, my dogs. Thank you, my four-legged, adorable, loving, behaved pooches, who help keep me in shape, happy, healthy and balanced.

Best of health to you and good-bye for now.
