National Walking Day

The first Wednesday of April is National Walking Day.*

So, how much walking did you do last Wednesday, 3 April 2019?

All is good. You always have time to do your stepping. National Walking Day is your reminder to keep moving.

Not motivated to walk? Injured? Raining? Cold? Snowing? Sleeting? Yes, it is still cold in my neck of the woods, which is great for the pea seeds in the garden. There is always a bright side.

How do I handle the cold rain, you ask? I will turn the radio on and do some dancing like no one is watching; that is, I will stay indoors to do my “dancing”… or jumping, bouncing, however the music motivates me.

Then I will take my best puppy out for a walk and watch her run circles around me. All the while, adding to my steps count as I also check on the pea bed.

The calendar shows that spring is here to add more light and sunshine to your day even though it may not feel like spring, yet. What will you do with your longer daylight hours?

Best of health to you and goodbye.

ACE Walking Fun Fact

The longest uninterrupted walk was 19,019 miles from the southern tip of South America to the northern most part of Alaska and took 2,425 days.*

Oh boy, I guess I will see you in about six and a half years for Thanksgiving. Actually, that time frame would get me to you by Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

How many pairs of shoes would that take? This walk is well above the recommended ten thousand steps per day.

I wonder who did that walk and what their motivation was for such a trek.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

A person needs to walk the length of a football field to burn enough calories to offset eating a single piece of candy-coated chocolate.*

Halloween Candy Aftermath

Out of sight, out of mind.

How are you all doing with the temptations of trick-or-treat night stash in your homes?

Go ahead and have your treat; just do not make a meal of those treats. Try to fill up on the good food first; then, you will have the proper amount of room left to slowly enjoy the serving size of your choice for dessert.

Allowing yourself a ritual will help to balance your cravings, believe it or not. Just think about it and give it a try.

If that does not work for you, then hide the stash or give it away for the out of sight, out of mind tactic.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

Wow, that can make a huge difference when you are racing, or want to get your workout in during a busy day. Not to mention, focusing on something in the distance will also improve your posture which leads to faster and more fluid movement.

Therefore, go out, focus as far into the distance as possible, and you will naturally increase your speed of movement.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

ACE Walking Fun Fact

Walk to the beat of “Shut Up and Dance” and you’ll be going about 3.5 mph. If you can keep up with “Shake It Off,” you’ll be cruising at more than 5 mph.

This sounds good to me. How about if I shut up and dance while shaking it off?

Yes, that sounds even better. What an exciting day! Very busy with many things that continue to challenge me; but, I will keep on trucking and walk it off, to shake off the stress.

I am ever so grateful for my health which gets me through the day and all of the rocky moments demanding my attention. I wish the same productive energy for you.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

NAPS 2 B Fit – Health + Fitness Tip

Lesson from kitty.

This is how we pump iron on a hot and humid day.

First find the weights.

Then take them to a cool place like the cellar.

Third, get into position on the bench and enjoy the atmosphere.

Now think about using your muscles in proper form… or just chill for a while.

Think about how winter will be back soon enough.

Does that put things into perspective for you?

Lessons from our furry friends can be priceless.

Best of health to you and goodbye.

Exercise Pays Off…

literally.

IMG_0427.jpg naps coins 4 july 2018

Picking up a coin from the floor, or elsewhere, gives new meaning to “your exercise will pay off and reward you.” Many ideas can be read into this thought.

I just had to post this mental image; because, I have heard about studies that prove money is the greatest motivator for people to continue their exercise program. This is one of  the reasons people who join an on-going class and/or gym have better results; because, they want to keep their purchase, not throw it away.

So, if you want to be able to pick up your loose change and add more value to your day, keep up with your healthy lifestyle program.

Thank you and good-bye for now.
